The Secrets of Success
As we grow up, our families, schools and favourite TV programmes all stamp their ideas about success on us. We take on what's required to impress our peers, the criteria we need to meet to get a 'good' job and then to get promoted. But having a successful career is not enough, we need successful relationships leading to successful parenting and successful children. Our brands, homes and holidays, all posted on social media, are evidence of how far we've come.
These ideas of success pull us in different directions, causing us stress and knocking our self-esteem every time fail to live up to expectations.
At some point, usually after a life changing experience, we come to realise this need to be seen as successful is exhausting. It is about us satisfying external expectations, proving our worth and gaining approval. We realise those who really matter approved of us all along and holding back our love and approval from ourselves is a mistake that just makes us unhappy.
This is our opportunity to get inspired. We are free to define our own success, tapping into our love and passion. What do we want to express in the world? What do we have to contribute? Who do we want to be?
Whenever we're looking to make changes, the secrets to success are the same.....
1. Get Clear. As specifically as possible, decide what you want. The clearer you are on what you want to have in your life, thee more likely you are to achieve it
2. Get perspective. Most people don't tell anyone what they really want r what they are struggling with and because of that, they don't get an outside perspective.
3. Get support. Very few people (if any) achieve anything great alone. Sport stars have teammates and coaches. Be willing to ask the people in your life to support you.
